Priority species are all those that have fewer than 150 recordings in eBird/Macaulay Library — the minimum Merlin needs to learn how to recognize them accurately. Every audio you share helps Merlin improve and makes the Neotropical sound archive much more complete.

You can explore the most relevant priority species for each country, province/state, or department/municipality, directly from the sound recordings dashboard.

How to explore the dashboard?

  1. Go to the Sound Recordings Dashboard:

  2. Select your country, province/state, or department of interest (for example, Cusco, Peru)


3. In the left panel, you will see the most relevant priority species found in that area
